Inclusion and Child Rights Governance Coordinator

CHILD SAFEGUARDING :

Level : The post holder will have contact with children and / or young people either frequently ( once a week or more) or intensively ( four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking / vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE :

The Inclusion & Child Rights Governance Coordinator is responsible for implementing the inclusion and child rights governance components under the non-formal Education, Child Protection, and other programs S / he shall plan and implement quality child participation and Child Rights Governance activities. The Inclusion & Child Rights Governance Coordinator shall ensure that children with disabilities and learning difficulties participate and have meaningful access to quality non-formal education and Child Protection services in the Multi-Service Community Centres and across different projects. The Inclusion & Child Rights Governance Coordinator is expected to dedicate % of work time in the field.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

Programme Implementation :

• Ensure timely and quality implementation of the Inclusion and Child Rights governance components across all programs and provide technical assistance and inputs as needed.
• With the support of the Education, Child Protection team and the Child Rights Governance Specialist, ensure the establishment and implementation of operational work plans, setting clear targets and activity plans per programme sites.
• Clearly communicate the targets, programme / projects’ objectives and activity plans to stakeholders, Save the Children partners, focal points, parents, and children.
• Liaise daily with stakeholders, communities, and Save the Children program managers, coordinators and Officers to guarantee the smooth operation of the programme / projects.
• Implement child participation and support the implementation of child and youth initiatives in the Multi-Service Community Centres.
• Participate in national and subnational Child Rights Governance alliance building.
• Manage the budget related to inclusion and Child rights governance across all projects in Save the Children International East Area Office.
• Develop all the needed training material and ensure capacity building on inclusion and child rights governance is provided for officers, partners staff and frontline workers
• Deliver Gender and disability inclusion, child rights and child participation trainings as deemed necessary.
• Support Inclusion Officer and Child Rights Governance partners in delivering trainings.
• Ensure monitoring and reporting on children with disabilities and the implemented activities is done monthly in coordination with the MEAL department and as per the donor’s requirements.
• Ensure all children across all projects are assessed and children with disabilities are early identified.
• Ensure Save the Children programme activities are assessed and risk related to child participation are identified and a mitigation plan is in place
• Ensure that referral system is properly functioning, and internal / external referrals are being performed as per guidelines to specialized service providers and closely follow-up with parents and service providers on the referred cases when relevant.
• Ensure all centres and projects’ facilities are assessed for accessibility and inclusion.
• Support the teachers in developing individualized education plans and in monitoring the children’ progress and provide technical support where relevant
• Ensure the provision of assistive technology and devices for children if needed.
• Monitor the development of action plans for children with disabilities and ensure progress is tracked and recorded and while providing regular feedback to teachers and caregivers.
• Ensure that data is accurately collected and reported according to the provided guidelines.
• Ensure effective and efficient communication with Save the Children colleagues from different sectors.
• Always ensure a strict adherence to the principles of Child Protection, including respect for confidentiality and a child centred approach and to act in the best interests of the child.
